Absolutely avoid this place!! My girlfriend and I went to celebrate our anniversary and decided to check out Dover Street.
Upon arriving there the staff were discourteous and rude. The also made a mess of our reservation although as these things sometimes happen I was willing to let this one go.
The main part of the evening i.e. the meal was a real let down and although the one saving grace was the dessert.
Don't be suckered in by some of the more positive reviews posted here. I've eaten at many establishments across London and I'm sorry to say that this was one of the worst I've been to. Service had that West-End arrogance where they only want your money and treat you like cattle. The food was average.
I've spoken to colleagues that have been here and their opinions are very much the same.

We found it a bit hard to find this restaurant.
Once we got there, the service was impeccable. We were thoroughly looked after from start to finish.
The wine selection was good and food was very well presented. The view was just amazing.
All in all a bit pricey however that's London prices for you. A thoroughly nice experience and look forward to returning again in the near future.

DISAPPOINTING is not the word! Firstly we got charged a 30pound entry fee...which I would not have minded paying but we were only 4 minutes late! This is considering we had already pre-booked our table, well in advance as well. This to me shows a real lack of class.
Once we got downstairs into the main restaurant area we had to wait for nearly 10mins before they found us a table. This was in-between being asked twice whether we had reserved a table or not?! To me that's just incompetence.
When the food arrived it was ok in a bland way but nothing special at all. The dessert was nice...but I'm a sweet tooth anyway ;)
For a restaurant in the heart of Mayfair, London I expect to be impressed at least a little and we weren't in this place.
The one good thing I would say is that the music and dancing afterwards livened things up.
In short, its nothing special to write home about. If I'm going out to a restaurant in London, I don't mind paying the extra bit of money and getting a classy service. With Dover St, you're really better off just going to a nice restaurant in your local town.
Other people I know have been here and have said near enough the same thing. Overpriced, nothing special, bland food, lively music.
