Arbutus is not perfect, but it's not far off! We had to wait a long time to be seated and even longer to order. But once the food started arriving it was definitely worth it. Belly of pork served in thin slices subtley dressed. And genuinely melt in the mouth Boudin Blanc of guinea foul and fois gras. As John Travolta said, its the little things that make the difference. The crushed minted peas with the boudin, the old-fashioned yellow carrots with the rabbit shepherd's pie. Each plate of food has been put together with care and consideration. This is really good cooking which beats showmanship every time.
I can't wait to go back and hope that Arbutus can maintain this early promise and avoid the slow slide into mediocrity which seems to blight so many Soho restaurants.
