My son has just moved to Rainville Road and suggested we try his local restaurant as it was adjacent to the river with an attractive garden. We sat outside although it was October and a little chilly. The staff were very accommodating and offered to light the outdoor heaters just for us. Once installed, we noticed the swanky cars in the car park and the menu prices around £13 for a starter, more for and in-between-course, £30 for a main course, £7 for a dessert, £8 for cheese! Although well beyond our normal budget we decided less embarassing to stay and make the most of it than make a hasty retreat. Although I enjoyed my scallops and my son the Dover sole the accompanying mix of beans, salad and squash were not that unusual. Nonetheless we could not fault the food, service nor ambiance but it was difficult to see how the prices could be justified. We shared an almond tart and had two glasses of wine, one bottle of mineral water and one coffee which left a total bill of £94 including the optional 10% service. There was an additional £1 suggested donation to charity.
