Have been to Chooks a few times now. It is a basic restaurant with a limited menu, but it is good. The chicken is very good, I love the BBQ sauce on it. Sides also good, fries, mac n cheese and coleslaw. Overall good value for money and actually better than Nandos. We haven't had a problem with service there.

Eaten here loads of times.
Positives - One of the best burgers anywhere. Fantastic fries. Great onion rings. Great value for money.
Negatives - Sometimes have to wait for a table. Trying too hard to be trendy. Interior looks like a Satanists squat. Staff appears to be more interested in fashion than actually serving. Have to eat off trays using kitchen roll.
If you are a burger lover, don't worry about the negatives and just go there. If not, then it is probably not your cup of tea.

I went to the Riding House Cafe for the second time recently. Our first visit had been mixed, with the food being good, but the night being slightly ruined by the fact that my girlfriend's scarf was stolen in the restaurant and staff were totally disinterested in doing anything about it. This time we went for lunch. It started well, with the best bread and olive oil I have had for a long time. It then went swiftly downhill. The pork belly was tough with the crackling, well not crackling. The cauliflower cheese was almost tasteless, just some cauliflower with cheese burnt on the top. But the worst of all was the special burger, not cheap at £20. Not only was it not very warm, but it really didn't taste great. The onion rings were ice cold and the chips tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. By this time, all I wanted to do was get out of there, so left without even finishing the burger.
Overpriced, overrated - don't bother wasting your money here.

This is one of the Emperors new clothes restuarants as I call them. One that everyone is told they should go to, and that the food is good, but when they go and realise it isn't true, they are too worried about their own image to criticise the place.
I got to Scott reguarly for business meals, and the setting itself is great and service generally good. But the food is really poor especially considering the price you pay. I have had undercooked fish on several occasions and other people I have dined with have also made this complaint. It is sad that a place can survive purely on its reputation, but unfortunately that is par for the course in London where it is obviously more important to be seen to eat at the 'right' place than actually have a good meal.

We went to Petrus on a Friday night with my girlfriend's parents, who were down from Edinburgh. Whilst we had been warned that it could be full of business people, this wasn't the case probably as it wasn't a week night. Whilst you are required to wear a jacket, it wasn't nearly as formal as I expected. Tables were well spaced and noise levels subdued enough for normal conversation. Service was attentive without being pushy. We all had the tasting menu and I was able to subsitute some of the courses where there were things I didn't eat. Portions are not big, but given the number of courses and richness of the food, this was not a problem as I finished without feeling like I had overindulged. The wine list is stupendous and includes choices for those people not trying to impress their fellow diners with the size of their wallets. Value for money wasn't bad given the number of courses, and I didn't feel the wine prices or cocktail prices were out of line, though it scores a big negative for charging £5 for a cup of coffee. The only other negative was a waitress spilling sauce on my girlfriend's brand new silk shirt, though they were quick to offer to pick up the dry cleaning bill. Overall it was great experience and I look forward to comparing it to some of the other top restuarants in London.
