I've used this site a lot, but I've never written a review before until my first and last visit to Mint Leaf prompted me to action!
Overall I was very disappointed with my visit.
The entrance lobby looks the part, but going through the doors into the bar area, the first thing that struck me was that place looked, well, a little bit shabby. The varnish on the long wooden bar is chipped and tatty for example. The dark lighting is not quite dark enough to disguise this.
We had a couple of cocktails each that were at the upper end of the price range for London drinks (£10.50) but were frankly mediocre.
The dining area is well-designed - my dining partner particularly liked the catwalk-effect entrance! However the food is at the sort of thing you might expect to find in your classier suburban tandoori (albeit at three times the price). I was hoping for something more imaginative. We drank beer with the food at £4.50 a go. Not bad beer in fact (from Alsasce). When I asked the waitress why my glass had only around three-quarters as much as my partner's she said that that was how it came out of the bottles! Otherwise she seemed quite unconcerned. To add to the sense of neglect of customers as we were finishing our food a strong smell of Mr Pledge pervaded the area, not improving the sensory eating experience. One of the staff was polishing tables in an adjacent part of the dining room!
All in all I could not reccommend this place. I've had better curries in Whitechapel, better service in Pizza Express and better drinks in All Bar One. If I want Hakkasan sophistication I shall book at Hakkasan in future!
