The Chancery

I had a wonderful evening here with my girlfriend. The service struck that excellent balance between being attentive but not obtrusive. The food was excellent and they gave some real thought to those little extra touches. The restaurant felt quiet but was full. This located in a very discrete little street and is an absolute gem!

I found this restaurant absolutely charming. Good service, discrete and excellent decour. This is just around the corner from where I work and excellent for a business lunch or dinner. However, I would have be happy to dine here with my girlfriend as well.

The Chancery

I had a fantastic evening here recently. This is a secluded restaurant on a very quiet street off Chancery Lane.

The restaurant was very spacious. Customers were not cramed in and my girlfriend and I had a very large table for just the two of us.

The staff were very attentive but they managed to strike that fine balance of being attentive but not intrusive.

The food was excellent with sea bass perfectly cooked. My girlfriend's rhubarb cheesecake was wonderfully light.

highly recommended!

Andrew Edmunds

I have been to Andrew Edmunds a number of times and enjoyed every visit. The food and wine is good and the atmosphere wonderful. This is the antithesis to the formal and stuffy restaurant.

I actually had 3 friends recommended this restaurant! I now have severe reservations about their taste in dining. It was atrocious!

1. We were lead to the dining area which was empty with the exception of one couple also dining. The waitress therefore proposed that we were seated next to them.

2.Nobody offered to take my bag, coat or umbrella.

3. Despite my colleague being on a business call the waiter asked him if he was ready to order.

4. The waiter removed my plate while I was still chewing food.

5. The waiting staff were poorly turned out, slouching against walls when not serving.

The wine was also overpriced and the food uninspiring.

This is a tacky tourist trap presenting itself as a classy London joint. The service was about as amateurish as it gets.

Clos Maggiore

I found Maggiores quite a cold place and lacking in charm. My girlfriend and I sat at the front of the restaurant and quite detached from the main hub and we did feel a little forgotten.

I had to ask to see the the wine list (which was fantastic) after being ignored and service was generally slow and not particularly attentive. The main course arrived without a side and I had a while to wait for this to catch up. Overall I was left feeling a little numb by the experience - the food was over priced, service and atmosphere were poor.
