Gastro

I have seen Gastro described as a francophile heaven - if this is heaven then I think I will be happier in a well known much warmer place! The food is not bad - nothing fantastic but certainly it does not justify the outrageous prices and appalling service.

I can live with detaching oysters from the shell myself because they have not been properly prepared; I can even live with fish that could really do with being a bit warmer. What I cannot abide is the service at this restaurant.

It is unfortunate that the waiters have that air of superiority about them, so often found in French waiters in London. What's more unfortunate is that the service is poor and the waiters are extremely slow and on occasion out rightly rude. What's even more unfortunate is that we seem to accept this behaviour and shrug it off as being typically French service. No where in France have I ever been treated like this; I even include Paris in this, which has a reputation for its own special variety of unhelpful and arrogant waiters (I happen to think this is an unwarranted reputation).

Thankfully the kind people at Gastro added their own service charge to my bill to make up for it.

Its time to wake up Gastro! - almost every review on this site and plenty others complain about your service (or lack of it!).
