India Club

I was so looking forward to visiting India Club last night but so wish i hadn't. I was not peturbed by the decor or lack of it i should say. It reminded me of a typical northern Working Men's Club with basic laminate tables and bric a brac chairs and factory style lighting. I was still confident the food would be good even though you had to physically walk to the lower level to get your own drinks and practically beg for glasses.

We ordered our food after our questions were reluctantly answered and my optimism was fading. If you imagine what the driest piece of KFC could look like with a sprinkling of garam masala, this is what the Tandoori chicken looked like. Other dishes such as chicken dopiaza and bhuna had unedible lumps of what was called chicken but i would like to debate this. The only success was the vegetarian dish (dosi) which was potato stuffed pancake.

What i will say was the place was buzzing - maybe they knew something we didn't. Oh and another good thing was the wine - but it was BYO!
