Great find in the Carnaby district, I will definately be returning to this thai restaurant. Food has great flavours and is presented very well. Service was outstanding, very attentive without being overbearing. You were never rushed for your order, but as soon as you were ready the waitresses were over to take your order. Also nice to have your drinks topped up without having to chase the wait staff or do it yourself. Loved the ambience of the restaurant and the decor is modern and sleek. Prices a little on the high side for thai, but not unreasonable - for a shared entree, 2 main dishes, 2 desserts, bottle of wine and 2 cocktails we paid £100 including 12.5% service charge.

Love the one in Sydney so when I discovered there was also one in London I booked immediately. Food is amazing! I recommend the banquet (only if you have 4 or more people). For 30pds it is great value and you get plenty of food and a good variety. The bar at the front of the restaurant is funky and not crowded (nice change for london drinking haunts!) The service was great - we were given a lesson on how to use chopsticks after our waitress saw us struggling. Atmosphere is great - ask for a booth if available. Enjoy! Will be back.

The Piccadilly

Ate here the other night pre-show. Service was quick and staff friendly. Food ok but wouldn't rave about it. Portion sizes were on the small side for Italian. I had the scampi which came with nothing other than the sauce it was covered in - was at least expecting some rice or the odd vegetable! Also bit steep to charge a cover charge of £1.50 a head (supposedly to cover the olives and bread you are given upon arrival - but you weren't exactly given a choice!) and 12.5% service charge. Wouldn't race back.

Banana Tree (West Hampstead)

This is a great value eatery. Not sure why there have been negative reviews..I would encourage you to give it a go and ignore these! As the name suggests it is a 'canteen' dining set don't go there for the romantic dinner as you may be sharing a table. However I have been there 4 or 5 times now and never shared a table.

The food is very tasty and great value for money! I highly recommend the Banana Leaf Maincourse for 8.65 where you get a choice of main course (plenty of choice too), salad (very tasty dressing) and corn cakes (yummy!).

We are slowly working though the menu and haven't found one bad dish yet!

I agree that the service needs improving, but I'm not going there for 5* service. As is often the case with cheaper places it is hit and miss with the wait staff. But for me the service was not unreasonable.

Will be back again for sure and can't wait for the warmer months when you can sit outside.
