Texas Embassy Cantina

We had just booked our holiday to the States and were just passing and thought it would get us in the mood for our trip. We are now planning on cancelling it!

The whole place lacks atmosphere, the lighting is all wrong and the décor is naff. Bar is small and a bit grubby and the drinks are not overly pricey by London standards but very expensive considering the total lack of any kind of ambience.

The staff are very pleasant but clearly there’s no training. Door staff were useless, the waiter didn’t introduce himself just put a bowl of chips on our table without even speaking to us. We sent them straight back as we’d had enough of chips during our hour-long wait at the bar. The food took ages to come and when it did, it was luke warm and portions were very small. The portion of corn was a tiny bowl of warmed-up sweetcorn – yuk! The pineapple salsa was vile. However, the brisket was very tender and tasty.

All the time we were eating, the manager was disciplining the staff which made the atmosphere even more tense and less fun, if that were possible. I felt sorry for the waiting staff, they were all very young and working really hard but everybody just seemed to be getting nowhere.

We were longing for key lime pie in a proper Graham Cracker crust but couldn’t bear to wait any longer for it. Also, we were a bit worried in case, when it came, it might put us off key lime pie for ever. Even the toilets were awful.

How is this place still open?
