Yum Yum Thai Restaurant

Don't understand all the disappointment. I've never had a bad experience with this place. It's always great. Each time we go, me and my wife think 'maybe this will be the occasion it's rubbish' - and it never is. Oh well.

Masala Zone (Soho)

At the risk of sounding glib, what is the point, in a city and country stuffed to the gills with probably the best Indian restaurants outside Asia, in a place like this? There's nothing terribly wrong with it, but it's certainly a restaurant for people who like their treats to be safe, their shops on the high street, their cinemas multiplex and their bars All and One. If you don't - avoid.

La Porchetta (Finsbury Park)

I can assure you of two things: number one, that this restaurant serves the best pizza in London, and number two, that I am not one of the staff. I thank you.

Kulu Kulu Sushi (Shelton St)

Many of the reviewers seem to be expecting the wrong thing from Kulu. No, this is not a 'big night out' or 'romantic dinner' kind of place, nor has it the commercial sheen of Yo Sushi. What it is, though, is a great place for a sushi pit-stop, while shopping, before the cinema/theatre, or even to line the stomach before drinking. The fish is always fresh, the vegetarian selection is good, there ARE quite a lot of more imaginative dishes on offer, and the green tea is great. Me and my missus regularly eat several plates each and the bill rarely reaches £15 in total. The staff are never less than friendly, while not being excessively attentive (which we wouldn't want anyway) - and what, may I ask, is the issue that the staff 'all seemed to be Indian'? When was the last time you were served by someone Japanese in Yo Sushi?

Booth's Cafe Bar & Pizzeria

Not sure about 'one of the worst pints in London' - you must have caught it on a rare off day. I've always thoroughly enjoyed the ice-cold pints of draught Peroni! Otherwise, everything else said on this page is spot on, the pizzas are excellent, great value, the staff are the friendliest in Stokey and the downstairs bar is 'where it's at' - although I'm told that I'm too old for it now.

We came here for the steak, and that was basically all we ate. Two lots of nicely cooked entrecote (you get a second one for £6 if you're so inclined - as we were), with delicious herb butter. And the (unlimited) chips, which were hot, crispy and delicious. No idea what the rest of the menu was like, but I can't imagine anyone ordering their signature dish and being disappointed (apart from perhaps a Texan). Nice wine, nice service, no atmosphere but then it was 7pm on a Sunday in St. James - hardly a carnival.
