I stopped at Cantina del Ponte on a Saturday, on my way to the Design hotel. The decor was appealing, modern but warm, and outside it was raining, so I decided to sit at the bar for a quick bite. I just ordered a pizza, that they advertised as freshly prepared "in the restaurant's open pizza oven". I know that you cannot judge an entire restaurant from one course, but this pizza (prepared in a quite sad gas oven that wants to look like a wood oven) was really terrible. Chewy and tasteless. Almost inedible. Nothing even close to a good, freshly prepared Italian pizza. What a shame!

We went to this restaurant for dinner on a Friday night. Despite the restaurant being a little noisy (mostly because of a table of 6 people celebrating a birthday) and tables on the lower end of size, service was quick and careful, and ambiance very pleasant. But being a chef I tend to focus more on food than ambiance.
My coq au vin was really delicious: the chicken was incredibly tender, the bacon crispy and the sauce thick as it should be. Much better than at other French restaurants in London. Also fries, steak and mousse au chocolat were good.
With a bottle of Claret we ended up spending £38 for two, which is utterly convenient, considering the large portions and the quality of food. Definitely a restaurant to go back to, and one of the candidates of our "local favourites"!
