Turned up on spec as our meeting place had changed.
Not busy on a Friday evening, but upstairs was fairly full.
Liked the menu as it had a good selection without being over long and it had lots of choice for my fusy other half.
The parsnip and coriander soup was a triumph and I almost wished I had gone for it, but I had selected the mackerel pate. This was a very large portion of pate (so much there was too little bread so I had to ask for more) but absolutely delicious. Apparenty the asparagus was equally good.
A little boring but we all went for the rack of lamb. However, none were disappointed and each person got exactly what they wanted - two medium rare, mine a little rarer and my other half a little less rare. I woldn't generally expect this, but it was a nice touch.
The desserts were also good, but I adored the selection of French cheeses. I was slightly disappointed by the crackers, but they weren't as bland as a cream cracker and they allowed the cheese to shine.
Can also recommend the house champagne - not too dry and a little nutty - and we had a couple of bottles of McGuigan's Shiraz. It wouldn't have been my first choice, as I fancied a Burgundy, but it was excelelnt and good value at under £25.
All in all, it was a great night out and I'll definitely go back.

Went to Miyama last night with a friend as we were looking for sushi and I had heard about this place.
Managed to squeeze into the end of the sushi bar and was recommended by a helpful chap who regularly attends with his Japanese wife - thank you for the kind steer - to go for the all in special.
I am an absolute novice and although I have been before, always with somoene who ordered for us. I am lucky in that I am allergic to nothing and love everything.
Well, we weren't disappointed. We filled our boots until we could eat no more and thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful food.
I cannot tell you how authentic it is, nor how accurate/impeccable the presentation, but I can tell you the quality fo the food was superb.
Although the place could do with a lick of paint, the service was excellent and very friendly indeed.
I am already planning my return.
