Bincho Yakitori

reasonable food, quite authentic, all in it works out at about 35quid and even then u're not splashing out keeping an eye on prices. despite the wood used for decor it did feel cold inside - ie it was definitely chilly. The tables are also badly laid out so only half of a group get to see the river view (one facing the river, the other with their back turned to it) - Oxo tower restaurant at the top has the better table layout.

Nice change from sushi, but don't expect fireworks

Harry's Bar (Abchurch Yard)

I came on the 50% special offer and had an excellent meal. Difficult to fault the food in any way though I found the service at times quite intrusive: our waitress had a habit of stopping by our table on several occasions, gave us a huge false smile, and asked “now, are you enjoying your meal?!”. Needless to say it was quite annoying

Décor was nice though the tables did feel quite cramped. Recommended if you can get yourself on the offer otherwise I’m not so sure as prices did seem steep on the mains (circa £15-£17). Starters, deserts, and wine were fairly priced (even without the offer)

If you are after an explosion of Indian flavours you can probably get it at Rooburoo assuming you avoid the mains. Our starters, naan and dips were exactly what a friend and I were after. The mains however were the usual strips of fried meat & some spicy sauce (albeit homemade) – good but not desperately interesting.

Décor was pleasant and quite original and service was relatively non-intrusive (though we did have the “is everything ok/are you enjoying your meal?” question which I find particularly annoying.

We came on the £9 special offer, had a couple of non-alcoholic drinks + one desert and the bill came to total of £18 each which I thought was ok, but still not super cheap either. If you’re not using the offer stick to the smaller dishes instead of opting for a main and you’ll end up having a better meal for less…

The Archduke

no really, please do not go here, The food must have been the most overpriced rubbish I've had in london for years. "fresh out of the fridge" stale starters. Our mains where only saved by over-seasoned ready made sauces, and the deserts genuinely reminded me of my school dinner days. This is not to mention the uninspiring menu that left us struggling to choose a dish we actually wanted.

The restaurant interior was also shockingly poor quality. Tiny, paper covered tables that would have been more fitting in a chinatown dinner. The chairs were uncomfortable, metal framed, that you might find in the reception of some ex-soviet block dental surgury.

London is full of great, well priced restaurants that despite being a little more off the beaten track, merit your money a ton more.
