Kiasu

Kiasu is one of my favourite restaurants when I lived in Bayswater. I feel bad to read the severe criticism on the service of this restaurant. I still remember once I asked the waiter to give me some chilli sauce since I love eating extremely spicy food. The boss overheard our conversation, came over and offered to give me some "in-house chilli". He was very friendly and we started chatting with each other.

I agree that the waiters do respond in a very blunt way sometimes, but I don't feel offended at all as I seriously believe that this is the way Singaporeans talk. This is their culture. Just like, you would not expect the same style of service from a Japanese restaurant and an Italian restaurant. Generally, I rate the service of this restaurant to be satisfactory.

Food is nice and the price is reasonable. Perhaps, different people have different degree of tolerance. I still hope that other readers will still give them an opportunity.

Kazan

Originally, we did not intend to visit this restaurant but another Turkish restaurant nearby. Since the latter one was fully booked, we randomly went into this restaurant and were very satisfied with everything there!

First, this is a restaurant perfect for special occasions like anniversary, valentine's day, farewell meal, etc. The interior design is stylish. The lighting is romantic. Even the design of the toilet could hold you spellbound!

When we were being seated, we thought we would have to pay a lot for this meal since this restaurant sounds so high-classed. Surprisingly, the price is very affordable and reasonable. Starters are on average £5 each and main courses are just about £12-14 each. The prices are just not congruent with the style and class of the restaurant at all!

We ordered a seafood meze platter as starter. Regarding main courses, we had kazan grill and fire grill. The size of the meal makes me question why the price is so affordable again! It is huge! Good news for people with big stomach! The meat is fresh and the seasoning of the meat is perfect! This is the first time for me to have Turkish food and I fall in love with it already!

The waiters are attended and friendly as other people said here.

I hope this restaurant would top the list of Turkish restaurants in London soon!

Nutmeg

I dined with my boyfriend at this restaurant last Friday due to the impressive review of this restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner and I believe it deserves another good review here.

When we entered the restaurant, we were already surprised by the lovely interior design of it. So stylish, so modern! The atmosphere is so good that I reckon it is nice enough for special occasions e.g. anniversary, birthday, etc.

The service of this restaurant was not overrated by other reviews here. They were very attended and friendly. Even if the restaurant was full, the waiters just managed to serve every table well. I also noticed those waiters frequently looked around to see where they are wanted by any customers. When we left the restaurant, the waiter who was dealing with something else immediately put aside his work, came to say goodbye and opened the door for us. This may be something very trivial but matters much to a customer!

The quality of the food is remarkable! We ordered two starters, baked aubergine and oyster mushroom. We did not know whether they are authentic but one thing we were sure is- they are delicious! For main course, we got herb and spinach lamb, a very spicy chicken dish, Pilau rice, spinach and potato. We ordered a bottle of white wine as well. Thanks for the special offer at londoneating, we paid less than £30 for the whole bill even if we had eaten so much!

I really love this restaurant a lot! I would definitely go back!

Addie's Thai

This restaurant is not big but the atmosphere is nice. With dim light and oriental decoration, it is romantic and cozy.

We ordered two starters, the garlic deep friend chicken wings and minced chicken spring rolls. I like the source of the garlic chicken wings particularly. The spring rolls are not very impressive but definitely not disappointing. As regards main courses, we had green curry prawn and stir-fried roast duck, both served with sticky rice. The texture of the sticky rice is quite special, but it may not be good for people with weak stomach and thus unable to digest food which is hard. The roast duck is stir-fried with mushroom, green pepper and onion with spicy sauce. This dish is highly recommended!!!

The 2-course dinner for two only costs us £25. I believe it is more value for money than other luxurious Thai restaurants in London.

Nando's (Bayswater)

This Nando's is quite small, so you shall be prepared that it may take a bit longer for you to get a table, particularly on Friday and Saturday.

Food at Nando's is ALWAYS great! I like the 'bottomless drink' arrangement. Olives could be a good choice of starter. Nando's chicken is something in the world which would never disappoint you.

The cashier and the reception staff there are always hanged with sweet smiles. Every time I visit Nando's, I am always greeted with warm welcome.

I highly recommend everyone to this Nando's.

Royal China (Queensway)

I was raised in Hong Kong and know exactly what authentic dim sum looks like and tastes like. I had dim sum at other Chinese restaurants in Chinatown before. To be fair, some of them are not bad but they are just not 100% Hong Kong style. If you wanna know how dim sum in Hong Kong is like, Royal China is your choice. The service, honestly, is not particularly good. Perhaps, it is because the restaurant is always crowded and it is difficult for the waiters to be very attended. Yet, considering the high quality of the food, I still find everything quite acceptable. Comparing to the price of dim sum in Chinatown, it is slightly more expensive. Still, I recommend you to pay a little bit more to taste some authentic dim sum and Chinese dishes.

Sofra (Oxford St)

I had dinner at Sofra at Oxford Street on Christmas Day. I am very surprised to learn that some customers were not satisfied with the service of this restaurant since I felt that all the waiters were very attended and warm. I booked a table for four and got a table immediately once we arrived. Although there was a lot of people and the waiters were very busy, they were very patient when we read the menu and selected the food. I picked a lamb shank which was served with some rice. For people who love lamb, this restaurant is highly recommended. My friend ordered chicken. I tried it and it was equally great! Oh I nearly forget to mention that there was a wide variety of appetizers as well. Ask the waiters to recommend some to you if you don't have any ideas. They were really helpful. After we finished all the main courses, my friend misunderstood that our meal went with a free dessert and asked the waiter. His response was impressively friendly. 'There is no dessert going with your meal, but we would love to give you an ice cream if you like.' That Christmas dinner was perfect and I would definitely visit again.
