Having telephoned in advance last week in the hope of a table either in the Restaurant or Trattoria, I was disappointed that one was not available, but not surprised, due to the deserved popularity of both. However, knowing that people do cancel for unexpected reasons, I took my chances (and my courage) this morning to Fifteen, as I was early for an appointment at Moorfields, where my brother was due to be seen for a severe eye condition. I explained that I knew that there would probably be no availability, but explained thet my brother had never had the pleasure of eating there and that I would be grateful to take any table they had. I was greeted by a very warm and friendly member of staff, who immediately checked to see what she could do then promptly offered me a table in the Trattoria at 12 noon! Perfect! We were warmly welcomed, promptly served, advised on the menu, offered other olive oils to try by our charming waiter and yes, the food was perfect in every way. My brother had the potato gnocci with pesto to start, which he said he could eat for ever, then the beautifully balanced and cooked cod and I had the interesting stuffed zuccini, which was more than enough for a week day lunch!
