El Gaucho (South Kensington)

I went to El Gaucho for dinner last Saturday .

Nice little restaurant, frames of Eva Peron,Alberto Olmedo (old famous comedian),Carlos Monzon (famous boxer),Maradona and Che Guevara (don 't know what was that frame doing there) all around the wall.Wood tables and chairs. It gives the feeling of being in rancho in the campo (country side) Very argentenian.

I had Bife de Lomo con papas fritas y ensalada (Sirloin steak with chips and salad) Massive plate.First it comes the steak and the chips on the same plate , then they bring u the salad on a separate small plate (the chips and salad where included in this £22 overprised dish which is worth in the end),but still expensive) The meat was lovely ,i ordered it a punto (medium) ,it just melt in my mouth. For a moment a i thought i was in restaurant in San Telmo or something .

After that ,there was no room for dessert at all.

There was just one thing i didn't like which was the Bruschetta, olives, sauce and bread "courtesy" they gave me which i had to pay for in the end, which was something they didn't let me know and i found out when i asked for the bill

It isn't about the money ,it's about that they have to let u know in advance as a customer you are that they are going to charge you for it ,it;s up to you in the end if you want it or not.Apart from that the service was good though.

By the way none of the staff were argentenian , apart from the mananger. That was a bit of a surprise as u expect to be served for argentenian people .
