Da Mario

Having a family short break in London, and given the excellent reviews of Da Mario, we decided to give it a try. We booked well in advance as we knew it is small, and were pleased we had , as it was packed. Our night there, however exceded our expectations.

The staff were welcoming, gave us plenty of time to choose before ordering, and were great with our kids aged 6 and 12. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lively, helped along by the staff who gave the impression , that this was family run.

We skipped starters apart from excellent garlic bread. Kids both had lasagne, which they enjoyed , I had a seafood linguine which was delicious and my husband, who isn't a huge Italian food fan, had a chicken al forno (we think). He raved about it , however, and says it's the best Italian food he's had. Pudds were icecream for my icecream-freak kids and husband, although he had his with Baileys, which he's since copied at home. Mine was a hot lemon pancake dish, I forget the exact name, but it was amazing, easily the best pudd I've ever had in a restaurant!

Coffee and liqueurs finished the night, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We felt the prices were reasonable, no higher than other cities and would want to back if we visited London again. Shame it's not closer to home!
