Melati
I was looking forward to trying this Malaysian restaurant, but was unfortunately disappointed. The starters we had were really good - the chicken satay came with a good peanut sauce, the roti canai was great and the sauce with it nice and spicy. The mains were a real disappointment though - the mee goreng and other noodle dish we had were both really bland, which is the last thing you expect from this kind of food. The service was good, but we wont be returning.

Fujisan
I absolutely love Fujisan, but dont go too often as it's not the cheapest restaurant around. They do the best tempura (vegetable and prawn), with wonderful light batter. Other favourites include gyu skewer (mouth-watering thinly sliced beef), pork ribs, yaki soba and the best ever miso soup! If that doesnt fill you up then they do gorgeous slabs of chocolate fudge cake (not terribly Japanese, but yummy all the same!). I must go back soon.

Zipangu
Not sure why this place has such great reviews... I went to Zipangu with my boyfriend yesterday evening and was really disappointed. The miso soup was ok, but certainly not great. My yaki soba had barely any chicken in it and although it tasted fine, it was nowhere near as good as I've had at other places. My boyfriend had the gyoza, which tasted quite bitter and chicken-don which was pretty bland. Wish we'd gone to Wagamama instead! Plus they charge £7 for tempura - whaaat?!

Eds Easy Diner (Soho)
The food is pretty blah and overpriced to boot, but the milkshakes! My favourite is a chocolate malt, my boyfriend's is the oreo shake... Creamy, gorgeous and probably a million calories! Stop for the shakes, but dont bother eating there.

Yum Yum
I went here the other month with my dad one weeknight and we were the only customers which made for a quiet atmosphere! The service was good, but I thought the food was more Chinese than Malaysian. It was quite expensive too. Nice, but not what I was expecting.

C & R Cafe Restaurant
I've been looking for a great Malaysian place since Mata Hari Bistro in Vauxhall closed down - this is a great alternative. I had the Kampung Style Nasi Goreng which was lovely (and huge) though not "very spicy" as advertised on the menu, along with gorgeous hot roti canai. I'll definitely be returning!
