The Gate (Hammersmith)

I've been to The Gate a few times now and it's been excellent every time. The room it's in is a bit odd, and when it's not full the atmosphere can be lacking, but it generally fills up pretty quickly.

The food has always been good, I've made a couple of brave choices that weren't to my tastes but that's not the fault of the chef. The portions aren't huge (appart from the curry I had once and had to leave some of it so as to have room for pudding) but it's the kind of place where you're likely to have wine and three courses so you wouldn't want massive plate fulls.

Always, always have a pudding (with a glass of the organic dessert wine) and the book is good for recipe inspiration.

Highly recommended for anyone, veggie or not.
