Leoni's Pizzeria Restaurant

Went in here on Saturday night, when every other restaurant in Manchester full up. Even Leoni's was busy, which we thought was a good sign! We went in mainly because of the tapas menu advertised outside, but after waiting about half an hour for a table, we sat down only to find out that there wasn't any tapas on the menu!

I went for a pizza, which is usually a safe bet, and even though it wasn't terrible, it wasn't great either. Authentic? I think not! The pizza base could just as easily have been a ready-made one bought from any supermarket, and was possibly one of the most doughy things I have ever eaten! Definitely over-priced.

The evening was nicely rounded off when the waiter dropped the cutlery down one of my friend's backs, leaving the back of her top covered in food.

Don't think I'll be going again, but it was definitely a memorable experience!

Food For Thought

Yum! This is a gem of an eatery! Went on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't too busy. I had a delicious risotto that was creamy, full of flavour and not at all stodgy and it came with a mountain of salad (and not just your boring lettuce, but a fab combination of leaves and sweet peppers) and a chunky piece of garlic bread. My friend had the quiche, which was crammed with veggies and again came with loads of salad. It is a small place, but has a good vibe about it and each table has a big jug of free water on it that was re-filled even before it got empty!

Really good value for money, guilt-free food, and you feel worlds away from the hussle and bustle of central London.

Hache (Camden)

Went to Hache last night to grab a quick bite before a gig. The burgers were fab and soooo filling - I had the Canadian and it was covered in cheese and bacon. Ordered a portion of frites to share between 2 of us and there were plenty. The only problems I had were with the service, which was a bit slow (but it was pretty busy) and the fact that they add a huge 12% service charge straight to your bill!

I'd definitely go again - liked it much more than GBK.
