Cafe Rouge (Highgate)

You pretty much know what you're getting when you go to a Cafe Rouge, and such was the case for our meal last night - main courses of roasted garlic chicken and beef in red wine were generous and hearty, but a sharing platter of mixed metas and cheeses was a bit stingy, with only 2 miniscule portions of cheese and 5 very thin slices of baguette between two.

Service was fine and the atmosphere was nice and chilled out for a Sunday evening. Great 60's retro French pop soundtrack!

The Barnsbury

Excellent food - had difficulty choosing from the menu as everything looked so good. A little on the pricey side considering we were eating in the bar (with the door wide open to let out all the smoke!!), but overall good value - would go back again and try and eat in the dining area.
