Le Dolomiti

A group of 4 of us (2 couples) visited this restaurant on Saturday night. When we arrived there was a group on Hens (about 20 women in Penis hats and flashing badges etc) We thought - oh no!! But actually they were fine and pretty quiet but not sure a restruarant like this really should be catering for Hens with penis shaped hats/tiaras etc.

We were shown to our table and after about a 15 minute wait had to ask if we could order some drinks, ask for the wine list etc. Drinks arrived and by then we were ready to order. About 4 waiters approached us and all said the same thing 'have you ordered your food?' and when we said no they just wandered off seemingly to look for someone to take it (odd - they never took it) We were catching up with friends though so we weren't too worried and we had our drinks. Anyway, after about 45 minutes we saw the hens appraoching their table so really thought we ought to order before a big party like that so had to ask quite sternly when someone was going to take our order. A very surly miserable faced waiter took our order without a hint of a smile.

From then on, our food was delicious - can't fault the food - my scallops and chicken duet was very tasty and the scallop and bacon starter that my husband had was fantastic.

The sweet trolly (quite old fashoiend) was wheeled in and we had some yummy desserts and the wine was nice.

My critisisms are the lack of service and attention, the decor is very dated nowadays and the plates need an update. They're like granny plates and the toilets could do with a refurb. In fact this place is so busy that its hard to get a reservation so why not USE some of that cash for a redecoration! I never trust a toilet that just has a faint dull orange lightbulb...

Overall, nice cosy restaurant with tasty food - not bad price (£175 for 4 people including starters, main courses, desserts, Irish coffees, 2 bottles of Pinot Grigo and about 4 pints of draught beer)

The service needs to be better and the place could do with an update - including the chairs!! quite uncomforatble after about 3 hours!
