My parents came to London for a one week visit so my boyfriend and I took them to Hakkasan on Friday night.
I was slightly apprehensive about taking them there, as they live in Singapore and good Chinese food is always hard to find. It’s down a dingy ally so first impressions weren’t good (my mother thought the taxi had taken us to the wrong place)
As we arrived we were told to go downstairs which transformed into an absolutely stunning restaurant with a great atmosphere!
We were immediately led to our table, which was beautifully set out and the service staff were very friendly.
We had several dishes-all of which were ‘traditional’ Taiwanese dishes with a modern twist. The food was fantastic and the ingredients were of top quality and extremely authentic (their dau miu (snow pea shoots) are from Taiwan).
The décor is stunning and the background music was good too! But most of all the staff were incredible! When the bill came I was extremely surprised as it no were as expensive as expected- in fact I thought it was very reasonable for the amount we ate and drank! My only criticism is that you only have the table for 2 hours, once that time is up you’re politly told that their next reservation has arrived and the bar has no seating area!
This place has become my favourite restaurant in London and I will definitely be returning many many times!
