Theo Randall

My girlfriend and I went to Theo Randall on Saturday night for the offer they are currently doing, which meant we had to arrive at 9.30pm.

The restaurant was busy and had a nice atmosphere about it, the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive, however service was lacking and I hope they take note because this is not far away from being a very good restaurant.

Firstly we were brought the standard menu by our waiter and not the "special offer" one, this was changed once I asked and explained to us well. We ordered some San Pellegrino which arrived promptly. No-one came to ask us to order for about 20 minutes so I prompted a waitress and our waiter came over and took it.

We ordered 2 courses and a bottle of Chianti Classico. A few minutes later a glass of Prosecco arrived as part of the special offer. Our first courses then arrived and by the time we had finished, the wine still had not appeared. A waiter brought over wine glasses and then took them away, saying he had the wrong table. I told him I had hoped he had the right table as we had ordered wine which had not appeared. He checked and was very apologetic, especially as the Chianti Classico was not available and changed us for a more expensive bottle, which was fine.

The secondi arrived and was excellent, as was the primi.

After the meal, we were offered a glass of dessert wine on the house and brought some small biscotti.

When we asked for the bill, we were brought another plate of biscotti which was nice but a bit of a mix-up I think. There was also a supplement charge on the bill that should not have been there, this was also rectified.

Everything that was wrong was corrected quickly and we felt well treated. However the lack the slickness of service was noticed and this is not something I would expect in a restaurant of this quality.
