Wahaca (Covent Garden)

Really good food - we ordered a lot of dishes. The steak tacos were my favourite though. The food was even fun. The margaritas are out of this world and the churros are fantastic. I will be goign back. Really good value for money considering how much we ate (we chose 6 dishes, 1 starter and 2 puddings and 4 drinks). The bill came to about £55 for two.

The service was great to start with then some flaky waitress messed up our drink order because I think she was walking around the place for the sake of it.

The Fat Duck

The hype was true.

We had a tasting menu and it was all magic.

From the simplest bread and butter to the most elabotate appetisers - it was a truly fantastic experience.

The only downsides were that the wines were not as good as hoped & it was quite difficult to understand the waitress.

Great Queen Street

Two of us turned up for an early sitting and didn't expect to get a table but we did and we were lucky we did.

The friendly staff seemed like they loved to work there and really knew a lot about the food they were serving. Crab on toast is just perfect for a starter and we also had the potted shrimp which was delicious. The bread and butter were fresh and tasty.

For the main we had a four rib of beef with bernaise sauce very succulent meat. Such generous portions. We couldn't finish it!

For pudding I had brown bread ice cream.

This place is too much of a treat to share. A winner in my eyes, I haven't been to a brasserie like it in England.

Le Cercle

This was supposed to be a birthday treat and it certainly wasn't that! Two of us waited 50 minutes to be served. Then the sommelier got the drinks order completely wrong. She then proceeded to try to put a bottle of red wine to chill until we stopped her.

The food took a further 40 minutes to get to our table. The food was certainly worth it, boudin noir especially.

Not worth going if it's busy for awful service but otherwise the food and wine are spectacular.

A true class act. Utterly fautless. Marcus Wareing has got it right. Others should follow this fine example.

Shish (Old Street)

I went for a quick meal before a night out and had really helpful and friendly service.

We ordered non meat dishes, falafal and halloumi kebabs and weren't too dissapointed. The potatoes were undercooked slightly and the falafal were a bit to dry and hard buy the salad, veg and halloumi were just right.

Cheap and cheerful, this place isn't for foodies but a decent inexpensive stomach-lining option.

I went here with a friend who isn't too familiar with Japanese food and wasn't dissapointed. Althought the menu is more Californian Japanese than traditional, the rainbow rolls were delicious and innovative, the tuna sashimi some of the freshest I have experienced in London. The beef teryaki was OK but the sauce it had was better. The desserts were fun and tasty. A bit over priced though.

The downside was that the place was a third full and the waiting staff seemed more attentive to their personal problems than with the customers and were never around. We attempted to order a bottle of wine and out of our first three choices, none were available and we had to settle with a mediocre bottle.

I won't be visiting a second time as I think good service is important if you are paying for an overpriced meal (we payed about £120 for two).
