The Ivy

Booked the private room upstairs for my daughter's wedding lunch and were very pleased with it all. They hired a pianist for the prelunch period while we were served champagne and canapes. Table decorations and place cards were provided and the room was actually 2 rooms divided by a partial wall. Lovely wood panelling and stained glass windows, rather risque paintings!

The food was really nice, better than we had hoped considering it was a private hire. Fresh and summery tomato and goat's cheese, tender sardinian chicken and couscous, fabulously fruity summer pudding and creme fraiche. Coffee came with super petit fours and was refilled. My homemade chocolate cake was brought in at the perfect time and served at the table as if it was from Valerie's. We were there for 5 hours and enjoyed every moment. A perfect afternoon, thank you.

Safir

Went to Safir with a family party without b ooking and they were happy to rearrange tables and chairs for us. Nice decoration but uncomfortable chairs strangely low down. Service not the best (put that down to having 15 to serve)but the food was fine, even tasty. Desserts a bit restricted and not generous.

Carluccio’s Caffe Smithfield

I've always had great food at a reasonable price at Carluccios. Is this reviewer a smoker or curry addict?
