Upper Glas

I went with my girlfriend last night and had one of the most enjoyable evenings ive ever had in london.

Really fun and fresh surroundings and happy, enthusiastic waiting staff.

Starters were absolutely amazing and on their own would have been a definate 10 out of 10. My girlfriend had the gravad lax plate (£8.50) and i opted for herring in vodka and lemon sauce (£7.50). The sauce on the herring was mindblowingly good and both courses really suited the house white wine.

Main courses are what let the place down, there was nothing really wrong with the exeption of mild overseasoning ( but that could just be personal preference)

meatballs with mash and loganberries (£13) were no different really to meatballs anywhere but my main of slow cooked rack of lamb(£18) was good, the meat was succulent and tender the only problem was an overseasoned potato and bacon souffle accompanying it. Also i found the side salad (£3) to be small for the price.

Then dessert to share a sublimely exellent orange pannacotta with shavings of fennel sorbet (£5.50) was the perfect sweet and palate clensing end to any meal a work of genius. Accompanying the dessert we enjoyed shots of frozen snapps and lapponia which were exellent to finish the meal.

overall with service the bill came to £95 but i deemed the experience of the evening to be worthy of the bill ( A third of which was spent on alcohol)
