Jimmy's World Grill & Bar (Wimbledon)

I visited this restaurant on Friday 5th August 2011 after 8pm, and I was overwhelmed with how busy it was. We had to wait for about 5 minutes before we were sat down and then waited a further 10 minutes before we were asked about drinks. As this was my first time at this restaurant, I did find the buffet service a little confusing.

This is a self service restaurant and there was lots of great food to choose from, such as Indian, Chinese, Pizza’s and Salads + dessert. Although I was a little surprised with the size of the plates, the food was really nice and tasty. At £15.99 per head, I did feel that it was a little over priced for what it was.

Overall, I had a great evening and would recommend to friends and family, especially if you know people who are a fussy eater….

TGI Friday's (Covent Garden)

I visited this restaurant with my best mate on Friday 15th July 2011 in evening, which was very busy however we were seated straight away. I ordered the Ultimate Mont Burger was really nice and reasonably priced at £13.99. The food did feel like it was taking a while to come, however it was an excuse for me to drink more Cocktails. I loved the Woo Woo cocktail which came in two sizes (£5.49 for normal and £7.49 for large), which of course the waiter Matthew twisted my arm to go for the large one…. Lol.

Needless to say, I had a wonderful evening and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family, especially if you are looking for a cocktail and food experience under one roof…

ASK (Barnes)

I have been to this restaurant several times now with my partner, and the food quality can be ‘hit & miss’ at times.

I had the Mushroom Al Forno as my starter, and then the Meat Calzone Pizza as my main. I found the food that day delicious and rich in flavours, as you would expect from any ASK restaurant. You do have great view overlooking Barnes Pond, which is lovely on a hot summers day.

The bill came up to £40 for 2 people, which included the starters, mains and a bottle of wine. Not bad! Overall I, I would go back again as I enjoyed my time there.

I have been to this restaurant several times now and so far I have enjoyed the food and the service received. This little gem is nicely hidden in Crouch End and with a name like ‘Money Nuts’, you can’t go wrong.

I ordered the Nachos as my starters, which was delicious, as I have never tasted anything like it, although £5.50 was a little pricey. As my main, I ordered the Rack of Ribs at £14.95, which didn’t come with any chips. I had to order this as a side order at £2.50.

Overall, the food and service was second to none, however I did feel it was a little pricey for a restaurant out of town. I would recommend to anyone as this restaurant has the potential of a good evening out.

Frankie & Benny's (Feltham)

I went to this restaurant at the beginning of the month, as it was something different to try. When we first arrived, we were greeted by a waitress who informed us that it was a 20 minute wait and we were welcome to wait in the bar area. We were given a phone that would alert us once a table became available.

20 minutes later, we were then seated. I ordered the Garlic Mushroom Crostini as a starter and BBQ Ribs Full rack as a main. I did find the starter a little dry and simple, which made me question the price of £4.45. The main course was nice, fresh and tasty, which I really enjoyed. I guess £13.25 for a full rack of ribs isn’t too bad.

I would recommend ordering the Jack Frost cocktail. Wow, I have never tasted anything like it!! Overall the service was good, the food could be a lot better for the price your paying.

Pizza Hut (Enfield)

I have eaten at this Pizza Hut several times now, and to be honest, it is what it is. The Meat Feast pizza was nice, rich in flavours and was value for money. £14.98 for a large pizza to share was good and the bottomless Pepsi went down like a treat.

I would recommend this Pizza Hut to friends and family, or those who wants a cheap evening out. Cant wait to go back!

The Swan Chinese Restaurant

I have eaten at this restaurant twice now and have mixed views about it. This restaurant is very quiet, cosy and easy to get to. When you arrive there, you are given 2 menus to look through. The first one has the food listed out how you would expect to see in any restaurant, and the second menu has an 'All you can eat' selection.

Needless to say, I went for the all you can eat menu for £12 per person. You are allowed to choose 5 starters between 2 people, 1 middle course and 5 main courses, then a dessert at the end. I personally find this set up a little confusing, as I would like to try a bit of everything. The food is served quickly and it does taste really nice. The 2 female waiters are a little weird, as they hang near you looking over your shoulder and try to speed you along. Not a good service on that front!!

I would suggest going for a take away meal only, unless you enjoy having waiters looking over your shoulder whilst eating.

The Oakmere Harvester

I went to this Harvester near Enfield, and I have to admit it is the best Harvester I’ve been to so far. The welcoming into the place was fantastic and the bar area is huge with plenty of seating places indoors and out. As you would expect from any Harvesters, the food was really nice and great value for money. The ‘Early Bird’ menu has plenty to choose from and by the time you have your salad and roll, main course plus a couple of drinks, your belly will be bursting.

The staff is always friendly and the service is nice a quick.

There is plenty of off-street parking within the grounds. Overall, this restaurant is a great place to relax, chat and eat with friends or family. Can’t wait to go back…

I have been to this restaurant several times now and still get excited each time I go. The service is second to none and the food is rich in flavours.

I have tried the lamb kebabs as my starter, which has an amazing taste especially with the garlic sauce on offer. As a main course, I would recommend the meat korma with pilau rice and Keenan Nan bread. Scrumptious!! The food was served to us within 15 minutes and the main course followed shortly afterwards.

Overall, a 2-course meal for 2 was under £25, which isn’t bad value considering we had 2 glasses of coke to go with it. Can’t wait to go back again.

La Porchetta (Islington)

My partner took me to this restaurant following a recommendation. This little gem in Islington delivers great Italian food and the menu is well priced.

We both had a Pizza each that was served to us within 10 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised how big the pizza was, as I couldn’t even see the plate. I had the ‘Napoletana’ Pizza that was bursting out with ingredients, plus for £7.70 it was well worth it. My partner had the ‘Calzone’ pizza that went down like a treat.

The atmosphere was good and the service was ok all round. I was VERY surprised when I got home to see that I was charged £1.98 (10%) service charge on my bill. That left a bitter taste in my mouth, as the service didn’t warrant this… I was more than happy to leave a tip instead!!!

Aroma Wood Green

I am a huge Chinese food lover and Aroma ticks all the correct boxes. The restaurant is cleverly set out in a buffet style layout, where you help yourself to endless dishes on offer. The food is fresh, hot and is topped up every often to meet the demands of its hungry customers.

Aroma has a huge range of dishes from Seafood, Curries, Noodles, Rice, Peaking Duck, Ribs, Soup and so on…. Why not try the ‘Tapayaki’ section, where you can choose what you want to eat.

I went on a Friday evening and it was £12.80 per person. The price is slightly cheaper during Monday – Thursday, however the price is well worth every penny. The atmosphere is buzzing and this venue is an ideal place to celebrate any occasion.

Can’t wait to go again…

TGI Friday's (Enfield)

I went to this particular resturant with my partner on a Friday evening, and was pleasantly supprised on how busy it was. We were advised to wait 10 minutes until a table became available, which didn’t seem so bad considering it was Friday.

We were then seated and offered drinks which arrived quickly, and then placed our order for food. The food seem to take forever to arrive which is normal for TGI, but its ok, I had ordered a bottomless coke to drink whilst waiting. It was soon apparent on how difficult it would be to get attention from the waiters running past with food & dirty dishes to ask for a refill. After 10 minutes or so, I managed to grab someone who gave me the refill I was entitled to.

The food later arrived, which was nice and tasted fresh. I had the Jack Daniels Ribs which was fantastic and I would recommend it if you’re a Ribs lover. My partner had a chicken sizzling dish, which also went down rather well.

Considering the price they charge for the food, TGI should have more staff on busy days like Friday’s & Saturday’s to cope with the demands and maintain a high levels of service.

I would go back to this resturant and recommend it to friends and family, but would avoid busy days!!

The Gryphon Harvester

Harvesters in general are excellent value for money, great service and a welcoming atmosphere.

I have eaten at this particular restaurant once so far, and found the service to be very good. The member of staff serving us was very professional, explained the ‘Early Bird’ offer that was on and advised us to help ourselves to free salad whilst we waited for our food to be cooked.

They currently have an offer that is on 7 days a week until 6.30pm, were you can choose from a set menu for £4.99 or £5.99. The ‘Early Bird’ menu is fantastic for family and a great way to eat for less.

I would recommend this restaurant to all and can’t wait to return back again.

The Clay Oven

I went out one evening to this restaurant with my colleagues from work, as it was suppose to be a dinner and dance venue. We arrived at the venue where we had to climb up 2 flights of stairs to reach the hall where the party was. They had live Asian music playing and some people dancing near the centre stage.

We were advised that dinner would be served from 8pm, however the starter didn’t arrive until gone 9.30pm. During this time, not much was happening apart from the live music from the stage. The main course was served after 11pm and dessert not far off from 1am. After every course of the meal, the audience would be encouraged to come and dance, whilst the tables where being cleared.

Be warned; do not go there on an empty stomach or it will be a very long evening before your belly is full.

Overall, it was a very long evening and really slow service. For the quality of the service and food, it was an OVERPRICED disappointment!!!

* £25 per person. * £5 for a 1.5L bottle of coke.

Tony Roma's

This is one of my new places you would find me eating every week.. It’s all happening on Monday evening… ‘ENDLESS SLAB’… Yes, its ribs all night and you can eat as much as you like for £14.95. You have a choice of 6 different sauces to have your ribs cooked in and 2 side’s orders.

The great thing about this restaurant, they have theme nights running through the week, which makes it an enjoyable evening out with friends and family. If you’re not too bothered about the theme nights going on, they do offer a great set menu you can choice from. The service is superb and our waiter ‘Fortune’, did make us feel fortunate to be there and keep our drinks coming all evening…
