We go to Numidie about once every 6 weeks, and have done for a couple of years. The service has always been exemplary, the food has always been gorgeous, the ambience has always been great, and the cute little Parisian bar downstairs has always been buzzing. During the lobster season they did a great value lobster dish, with fennel dressing – we calculated that they’d only added a markup of 25%, which is excellent.
Last night was no exception, their Salad Numidie, basically a Moroccan starter of falafel, humus and leaves and tomatoes, was lovely, fragrant and light and stylish and sexy, the Seafood Bureck was perfect, a lovely balance between sweetness and fish, while the Lamb Tagine was wonderful, good as or better than any I ever tasted in Morrocco, and the crème brullee was spot on, and they didn’t moan when I asked them to serve mine cold, as other restaurants have. The wine list is great, with some eclectic surprises on it, and it’s lovely to be able to wander downstairs for a post-prandial brandy. The best eaterie in Crystal Palace, bar none.
