Tito's Peruvian Restaurant

Went there last night with my boyfriend, living in the area and after having read all the good reviews and we were both really disappointed to say the least….

Food was ok but nothing special really, portions are generous but prices are quite high anyway. The service, even if it was not rude, was not pleasant at all. I think the only words we heard from our waiter were: two (for” good evening, table for two?”) drinks and finished. We had no smiles, no greetings, no thank you, no goodbye from any of the 3 members of the staff… and the atmosphere reminds you the one of a canteen…the drinks come in plastic bottle, the cutleries were stained, the plate chipped and the tables dirty!

We ended paying £45 for 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 bottle of water and 1 beer. I guess you can find better in the area for that price and that standard…

Won’t go back

Mango Tree

We went there a couple of weeks ago, and I have to agree with the previous reviews. The food is good, the lamb palak was really good (some portions are maybe a bit small: baby aubergine as main course was not really big). The service is smooth, attentive and the staff is really nice. The only problem was the soundproofing, the place gets really noisy when it's full...

Bermondsey Kitchen

We had brunch there last sunday and the whole experience was quite enjoyable. We had bermondsey eggs (eggs benedicte), full breakfast, pate, and black pudding. Everything was good, well cooked and well presented; and seemed to be fresh and good quality food (this explains the prices). The service was quite relaxed and friendly. We ended up paying 85 for three (two courses each+ wine/beers) service included. Would definitely recommand it.

La Poule au Pot

We went there for dinner last week and just loved it! The decor is rustic, you really feel like you are in the nice french countryside. The food is excellent, we had foie gras for starter and lamb and duck breast for main, everything was really good and perfectly cooked. The staff (all french) are really friendly and the service is very efficient. The bill was quite high (180 for two, service incl) but we had aperitifs, digestif and a nice bottle of wine and foie gras was not the cheapest thing on the menu either so I can guess you can end up with a lower bill!

Can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu though!

The Garrison Public House

We went there for dinner last week on wednesday. We had a table booked (still there even if we arrived half an hour late). The restaurant was actually quite busy, bu the service was really efficient, the food was really good as well, the dessert are lovely ( we had a pistachio creme brulee and brownie, both lovely). And even if the seats we had were not that comfortable, the atmosphere and the decor were really pleasant. So I think we will go back.

Prices are more expensive than a pub, but it doesn't really fell like anyway!!! and still average for London with main course around £10-15 (don't need side orders)

Village East

I went there twice for breakfast/brunch on the week end with my boyfriend. the first time was on a sunday, it was fully packed so we had to sit at a big table in the bar area (which didn't seem to be in any waiter sections...) so the service was not that good and a mistake was made with one of our dishes (but was replaced) but the food was really good. I tried the eggs florentine (really good), the squid & chorizo salad (good although a bit greasy) and my boyfriend had a chicken sandwich. the second time we went was on a saturday and we actually were the only table in the restaurant so the service was much better, our waitress was lovely. We both had the eggs royal and it was really good as well. The prices are (for brunch) are really reasonable (eggs are around 5-6£). Will definitly go back.

Cantina del Ponte

I had lunch there with my boyfriend few weeks ago on a sunday and were both really disappointed. I guess it is ok if you take the fixed price menu which we were not offered in the first place so we ordered a la carte.

The a la carte options are quite expensive and the portions are tiny. My boyfriend had the grilled veggies to start and a pizza and I had the sinach and ricotta raviolis. the veggies and pizza were good (although a bit small) but the raviolis were really disappointing: I literally had four raviolis swimming in a a whole packet of melted butter (although butter was not mentionned on the menu). I complained nicely to the waiter who was nice but I guess, used to be complained to...Otherwise, the view is of course unbeatable, the service is good (although a bit pretentious compared to the food..) I don't think we'll return

Fish! Kitchen (Borough Market)

I ate there a couple of time as I leave in the area. The terrace is very pleasant, the food is OK but the portions are tiny, and the dishes are quite expensive... was still hungry everytime I left!! Service was ok-ish.

Don't think I will go back
