I can't quite believe I am doing this - it feels like a betrayal of one of my favourite restaurants ever - but I feel that the time has come for the truth to be told. The Tayyab is now truly a victim of its own success and I can't face the idea of going back.
Time was when it was the perfect end to a night out, when joining the queue of hungry-but-happy punters was all part of the fun - the food was so good it was worth the wait. Unfortunately, the waiting times are now such that it no longer feels like fun, just really, really annoying.
The amazing tandoori starters are still the best I've ever had, and the prices so low that you think they've made a mistake - but the waiting bums you out so much that its hard to enjoy it. Sorry.
