The cosy atmosphere is the best reason to go here - it feels like your Great Aunt's 1940s living room - in a good way! The food is satisfying and well priced but don't expect haute cuisine - there are definitely a few packet sauces and cash and carry condiments doing the rounds. The staff are pleasant and efficient and the service well paced. Wine list could do with a revamp though. On the whole a homely dining experience but let's hope Fay Maschler's rave reviews don't allow them to rest on their laurels.

Visited the restaurant on a Monday evening and it was heaving - a good start. Nice atmosphere in what could be quite a stark dining area and service was attentive but not overbearing. I went for venison which was good but wish I'd had the rabbit ordered by my partner - one of the best dishes I've ever tasted and beautifully presented. Puddings were tasty but nothing special. Would recommend especially as pricing is reasonable for the quality you get.
