La Locanda

This review is to try to give some balance to the other reviews which range from four 10 out of 10s to four 0 out of 10s. Both these extremes are unjustified.

What makes people very happy about this place is that it is very good value for money and the food is reasonable. Haute cuisine though it is not. I would not recommend it for an intimate dinner for two but could well go back if I was in town on my own on a business trip. The portions are generous and the cooking homely. The one thing that would put me off returning is that there are no half bottles of wine, and only one red and one white by the glass both of which are poor. Most restaurants have got this together now and offer at least one medium quality wine as well as the cheapest.

Koba

A very slick and sucessful operation. Extremely friendly and efficient staff, excellent food especially the starters. Be aware though that this is Korean Food Lite and is toned down for western palates. Old hands may be disappointed with the lack of chili - even in the kimchee.
