Visited Petrus today for lunch for my mother's 80 th birthday. The decor was sumptuous, the staff were all wonderful and made a fuss of my mother, which was greatly appreciated. We were given a tour of the kitchen and Marcus Wareing even had time to say hello. The only thing I was disappointed in was the food. I don't have a sweet tooth but the dessert, pear tarte tatin was the best dish of the three course set lunch menu. The starter I had was lobster broth, but was more like a consomme and was very salty. The main course of rump of lamb was also very salty and could have done with having a few more vegetables with it. Nevertheless we both enjoyed it, but I think it was due mainly to the efforts of the staff.
