Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's

Really unimpressed by the food and service here, Maze and Boxwood are much better on both accounts. The service was phenomenally slow, our lunch took 4 hours, I'm all up for taking time to appreciate fine dining, but this was ridiculous.

Considering the amount of waiting staff they had, it took forever to get anyone to come to the table as they were too busy standing in little groups yapping away. I was brought the wrong starter (normal fois gras instead of roasted) but since we'd already been there for 2 hours, i thought better than to ask for the right one. Main course of pork belly was nice, desserts were just blah.

Kiasu

Highly recommended! The hainan chicken rice, char kwei teow and roti were all delicious and good value, the best Malay/Singaporian restaurant in London I've been to so far. Way better than C&R.

C & R Cafe Restaurant

Absolute rubbish. This place used to be good but in the last few years the standards have gone down considerably. Overpriced for the mediocre food, don't go here, if you want real tasty authentic Malaysian/Singaporian food go to Kiasu in Bayswater - 100 times better and the staff are much friendlier.

The Carpenter's Arms

Delicious! Had the crab on toast to start with which was very moorish and then the liver for mains which just melted in your mouth! The service was faultless, definately recommend this place but book as it gets packed out.

Very good food but the service was so bad I wouldn't go back there. Asked the waitress to let us cook it ourselves (all 3 of us have been going to Korean bbq since we were kids) but she refused to leave us alone. Had to ask her about 6 times to just let us cook it for ourselves but she'd still keep hanging around, telling us when to turn it over, where to cut the meat, trying to put more meat on the bbq, telling us to take the meat off, taking the tongs off us to start cooking for us, etc etc etc. Just shoo.

If she wasn't interfering with the cooking then she was hovering badly. I'm all for attentive service but you shouldn't have to notice the waitress leaning over and faffing around your table for no reason at all. Go there if you want tasty Korean food and want someone to cook for you, spoon feed you and wipe your mouth for you too. Service charge is alot more than the normal 12.5% too.
