St John

I will admit that they do not serve my type of food so I will not comment much on the main courses. I am sure it is nice for the ones who prefer. However I will comment on my pudding which had black burnt pieces in it.

The main reason that I will not go to St John again is not the mediocre food but their service. It is very very very slow and sometimes clumsy. Our waiter split half of a full glass of wine to the tables and did not even offer to top it up. In addition to that, does someone tell the waitresses not to smile or to look dead serious?

I am wondering whether they will be able to keep their star for long.

Limon Shish & Mezze

great turkish restaurant. i am not saying that because the food is great or the service is excellent. i am saying that because it really feels like one of these more modern turkish restaurant that you would find in istanbul. the food is not modified to meet the expectations of londoners from turkish food.

they serve selected shish kebabs with fresh crunchy salads, rather than filling up the plates with tasteless rice. they do not serve salsa with the food, which is exactly correct as tomato salsa is not companion for shish kebabs in turkey. you can also have a selection of mezzes with your meat as another alternative.

would strongly recommend!

Croque Gascon (Westfield)

very very disapointing after Comptoir Gascon. how can the same ingredients be used to make such heavy dishes?

the duck burger was probably the worst burger i have eaten, and the fries were swimming in burnt oil, although one would expect something better as they are fried in duck fat.

and the place felt no better than mcdonalds. it is possible to come up with a better atmosphere even when the place is inside a shopping mall.

The Dog & Fox

we have been there for drinks a couple of times and it is a great place to hang out in the warm summer nights and spring afternoons.

last weekend we gave the food a try, and it was not nice at all.

first of all, i have discovered that their web page does not work for reservations when i called them to confirm my booking.

they are very inconsistent in terms of the rules. i have asked them whether they serve food outside and the answer was no. a couple of minutes later, when my husband went to the bar to order food, they suddenly decided that they actually serve outside. in addition to that, we had to wait for more than an hour for food. the only reason i am not rating them horribly for service is because our waiter was really kind and kept apologizing.

and finally there is no escape from that, the food was horrible. tasteless and pointless food, cheapest ingredients with not that cheap prices. will avoid eating there again.

Yauatcha

great food. will go there again for the mongolian style beef stir fry, date and prawn dimsum and fried veggies. worth giving the cocktails a try. atmosphere was also better than hakkasan for me, not in your face. no tourists with luggage to hand to concierge.

the service was not that quick and i understand that it can be a problem in conjunction with limited time provided. but we were not expected to leave before finishing the food and it takes a long time to get the bill anyway. so their problem if they can not manage it within the time they provided.

Cah Chi (Raynes Park)

This is a little neighborhood gem! We had a lovely evening and definitely planning to go again.

Some minor points of improvement. Soju was not that cold but they used a cover to keep it cool it. so it was better after a while. Portions were slightly small, we were full at the end but might have been a bit more.

Quilon

Delicious seafood dishes, seared scallops and the black cod were divine. Loved the okra crisps and lime rice and almost finished the pickles on the table. Ordered everything in half portions but we were still too full to try the desserts. Will go there again.

Saf

Saf looks really good from outside and the concept surrounds you as soon as you enter. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the cocktails list is really fantastic and different.

However I was really disappointed about the food. Not that it is bad, it is fine. But you expect something really different from a restaurant that is supposed to be one of the best vegetarian restaurant in town. The menu is not different from one of those chain Asian restaurants, apart from being organic and healthy. It is also possible to serve the same menu but make it really tasty. Unfortunately that is not there as well.

I think their Istanbul branch would do rank better in terms of food, as there is a lack restaurants serving world cuisines.

Haz (Premier Place)

To me, Haz is the best Turkish cuisine in Central London. I have been to Haz many times probably since they opened. I took many business associates, clients and many friend, in all my visits the food was very good and the service was excellent.

Although they are usually fully booked for lunch in weekdays, they are always friendly and serve quick. I also appreciate the staff who keeps remembering me after not visiting for a whole year.

All the meals are very close to the original Turkish receipts, no strange ingredients, no new invented sauces. Simple and delicious. I recommend them strongly if you are after a business lunch and anytime you want to eat good Turkish food.

Cyprus Mangal

My husband and I were a regular visitor to this little reastaurant in the past six months.

In our latest visit, the food (doner kebab) was horrible, the bread underneath was old, the sauce was too chunky and the meat was horrible. There was no meat actually, it was some other parts of the animal but meat. Although they knew we were regulars, the staff was very rude when we we complained about the food. I am not planning to go there again.

Arang

A very nice introduction to Korean cuisine. I would recommend to order a set menu, which offers a bit of everything including the opportunity to discover what is inside the table. Asking to replace the pancakes with Korean pizza might be a good idea.
