YO! Sushi (Soho)

I went to Yo! Sushi as a treat to myself the other day. I hadn't been there in a number of years and had fond memories. Sadly this time I was sorely disappointed. Perhaps if I had never had much sushi before I would have thought I had got a good deal but the sushi was terrible. The rice was bland and hard and shaped by a machine. The fish was not particularly tasty. I had the miso soup which you're meant to get unlimited refills of but the waitress managed to conveniently disappear whenever I tried to get her attention. The meal ended up being very expensive for what was essentially a few plates with two pieces of sushi on. My advice is to go to one of the many other Japanese restaurants (especially the all you can eat ones if you are greedy like me!) in the area where you will get far better quality sushi for a lot less money.

Big Easy (King's Rd)

I have been to the Big Easy twice now - whilst the first time I had an enjoyable meal, the second time was not such a great experience. I had the all you can eat bbq ribs and chicken - both the chicken and the ribs were dry and tough with not much meat on them. A disappointment considering how nice my steak was the first time. Whilst I would recommend the restaurant for steak, I would suggest avoiding their all you can eat menu.

Gallipoli Cafe

I like this place - while I wouldn't say that the food is out of this world, I would say that it is very good for the price you pay. If I have to catch up with friends I normally suggest this place as we can get the mezze and share it. The service is friendly and efficient enough. My only complaint would be that they seemed to have crammed a lot of tables into the space, so if you are a little taller (as I am) there is not much room for manoever.

Palms of Goa

I went here last night and must say the food was absolutely delicious. It was by far the best Indian I have had in a long time, and the service was fantastic. I can definitely recommend the Palms set meals - both the non-vegetarian which I ate, and the fish which my boyfriend ate. Next time I find myself hungry in Soho I will definitely be returning here.
