Petrus

Very good food. Did not feel at all rushed. Friendly staff - one even recognised my friend when he dined at Claridges a few weeks later! Will go again.

The Ritz Restaurant

Dined agaiin last night. The atmosphere was lovely. It was busier than last time and so the service was not quite as attentive, but still good. The food is not the very best you can get for the price but is still very good. Great place for romancing someone.

Gordon Ramsay At 68 Royal Hospital Road

Dined here last night with 3 friends.

I have to say that it is the best meal I have ever had at a resturant -

Starter - Pan-fried Scottish scallops with a millefeuille of potato, parmesan veloute and truffle 8/10.

Main - Barbary duck, cooked pink and with lovely flavour, served with creamed savoy cabbage, chestnuts, beetroot, turnips, black trumpet mushrooms and Madeira jus 10/10

Desert - Granny Smith parfait with honeycomb, bitter chocolate and champagne foam. Amazing - 10/10

Plenty of extras and great wine

£167 per head, but worth the treat.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen (Hampstead)

Not really sure what the point of this place is. Cheese burger and chips are the sort of thing you eat as a snack or after a heavy night on the town. This place tries to make burger eating an experience and do not do a great job at it anyway!

Trying to make burger and chips posh is as ridiculous as opening up a chain of fancy and over-priced breakfast cafes.

If you want proper food try the many different types of food from all over the world that London restuarantrs offer; just don not visit an American lard hut!

Gaucho (Hampstead)

Great succulent cuts of beef that melt in your mouth. Worth a try.

Chez Bruce

Dined here the other night. I had heard great thngs about this place and so my expectations were high. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. The food was perhaps the best I have ever had at a restaurant - and I do dine quite a bit nowadays.

The service was exceptional and the sommelier was very knowledgable; the wine list goes on for about 30 pages!

I will definately dine here again.

Sukho Thai

Went here on valentine's day and it was jam packed - as were the tables! I do hope they do not normally squeeze everyone into such tiny spaces. However, apart from this, I really enjoyed the meal. It was perhaps a little too spicy but I have not tasted better in London. The staff were run off theri feet but very polite and helpful.

I will go again.

The Painted Heron

Great westernized food on offer. Swish surroundings. Service is average.

Not the best Indian in London, but definitely above average.

Nice cosy place and friendly place. Food, however, is poor!

Mint Leaf

We went with the 50% off deal.

The food was excellent - one of the best I have tried anywhere, and I have been to a few. I was surprised; I had heard some bad things about this place!

The lobster and sea bass was very good, even if not typical Indian dishes!

The service was good and the atmosphere was pretty good too.

Will come again.

Busaba Eathai Store Street

I have been here a few times. The food is very good, but certainly not one of the best in London - don't believe the hype!

The service is fair enough, though you do feel like you are being rushed at the end.

I like the busy atmosphere, but be prepared to be squeezed in next to fellow diners.

Golden Hind

It can be no coincidence that virtually everyone on here has given this place top marks. I originate from Hull - a fishing port - and have not tasted better fish there. The only place I can think of which may have surpassed Golden Hind is a place a visitied years ago in Whitby; a place know for it's sea food.

Staff are very friendly - great atmosphere, too.

The Ritz Restaurant

It was a few weeks now since I dined at this place and as my memory is poor at the best of times I will not try and remember every little detail in terms of what I ate.

What I will say, however, is that I thoroughly enjoyed the food and would recommend this place. Yes, it is very expensive and for the food alone, perhaps not worth the money. Having said that my starter - duck egg and fois gras - was superb. So was my main course - sea bass and snails.

Service was a delight as were the surroundings.

A few people have criticised The Ritz, but I can only say good things. Perhaps I got lucky.

The Devonshire

8 of us dined here today and we all tried different meals. Pretty much all of us enjoyed our meals apart from me. Perhaps I am too fussy or just a littler more discerning; the latter, I think!

I had soup for starters which was not bad, but nothing special. For the main I had neck of lamb which was presented nicely enough but again did little to wow me. For desert I tried the chocolate sponge and ice cream. This was better but looked as though it may have come out of a packet an hour earlier.

I have to comment on the mash potato. I thought it was pretty awful. It was too creamy and had no texture. It could have been smash for all I know!

I have had better food at places half the price. Gordon, why are you buying these gastro pubs - they are not the future, mate!
