Gaucho (Piccadilly)

Four of us ate here on Friday night. Although we had booked in advance we were shown to a large round table for six that we couldn't fit around which meant that conversation was difficult. Adding the that, the music was so incredibly loud that we could barely hear anything any of the waiting staff said. The woman with the steak board was practically screaming to be heard.

The food was okay. Nothing spectacular. The house Malbec was delicious.

All in all we had a fun night but won't be returning.

Hot Stuff

Really enjoyed our Hot Stuff experience. And I mean experience. Taken on its own the food is nothing special. BUT the place is a gem. Raj the front of house guy is charming and fun. There's a real buzz about the place, and you bring your own booze. What's not to like?!

Cheap and cheerful at its absolute best. I wouldn't dream of getting a takeaway from here, but that would be missing the point anyway.

Terroirs

This place was highly recommended to me so I was looking forward to my first visit.

An inauspicious start with the maitre'd being more than a little flakey when I turned up to meet my friend for our pre-booked table. The table wasn't ready so she suggested we go to the bar for a drink. There was no space at the bar and we stood there being ignored by the busy bar staff for around 10 minutes. When we eventually made our drinks order they never turned up.

Things swiftly picked up when we were seated. The menu is tempting with a diverse selection of small plates. The waiter was charming and informative regarding which wine to choose from the extensive list (we ended up with an organic Cabernet Sauvignon). The food was delicious.

Will definitely go again.

Tapas Brindisa

I love Brindisa. In fact I would go as far to say it's my favourite restaurant in London. I love the laid back approach, jostling at he bar with a glass of wine whilst waiting for your table, the buzz of the staff alone is worth it. To me, it feels like you're in Madrid, not SE London! The food is tasty and authentic and I know I'm guaranteed a great meal and a fun time whenever we go there.

Angels & Gypsies

I'd been meaning to try this place for a while as we live just round the corner. We went last night for my birthday and had a brilliant time.

The place was packed on a Monday night and ours was the only free table (thankfully we had booked ahead). The food was delicious and interesting, even though it took some time to arrive (the waitress said they were taken off guard with the number of people and graciously gave us some olives while we waited). The wine list was reasonable and charmingly described.

An absolute gem in Camberwell and I would definitely recommend making the trip if you're not local. Our bill with six dishes, a £25 bottle of wine and two glasses of cava came to £65.

St Germain

We had our wedding reception here in July and had a fabulous experience. Neil (the manager) was relaxed and flexible, not batting an eyelid when I said I wanted steak frites for 50 people! The food was fantastic. Everybody's steak was beautifully cooked and the chips were hot and crispy and replenished regularly throughout the meal.

The staff were amazing (we've eaten here before and were so impressed with the staff it was the main reason we chose St Germain for our wedding reception). All day and late into the night the team at St Germain were bright, friendly and accommodating. In fact, our guests are still talking about the food and service weeks later.

When you add to that the reasonable costs it was the perfect venue. Thank you!
