Smiths of Smithfield
I read many reviews prior to my visit to the 2nd floor of John Torode's restaurant in the center of London, some of which were very good and some very bad, on my visit i was lucky enough to find the event very pleasurable.
This restaurant tries to be all things to all people with a trendy bar...business meeting area...dining room...and an expensive upper floor restaurant.
My mushroom and paster starter very good and a 10oz beef burger main was delicious, all finished with a delightful sorbet dessert. To my surprise, the portions were moderately sized, unlike some of the other places similar in standard.
The whole restaurant had a really good atmosphere and the service was great with the waiters/waitresses being helpful and cheerful.
My only complaint (and now I am really splitting hairs) was that the alleged 'fresh orange juice' had the distinctive bitter taste of a concentrate.
Overall I had a thoroughly good time and would recommend Smiths' of Smithfields' to anyone so long as they have moderately deep pockets.
