Paternoster Chop House

My girlfriend and I dined at the Paternoster Chop House on Thur 14 Feb 2008 (Valentine's Day). We had very poor service so I felt compelled to write this note.

On booking a table at 8 pm we were told we had to give back the table by 10:15 pm. However, the service was slow and we did not get our meals for a very long time. The restaurant should reconsider its "give us back the table by..." policy as it takes a very long time to serve the food and place was half-empty when we left even though it was Valentine's Day.

Our waiter spent a large portion of the evening chatting to the blonde girl sitting on the table next to us. The tables are so close that every word of every conversation can be heard on adjacent tables. When, at the end, we asked to see the dessert menu, he came back armed with 4 menus and after giving two to the couple on the next table, proceeded to have a long conversation with said blonde girl while our table remained menu-less and irritated at this poor level of service. We ended up not ordering dessert and going home.

As you might expect we were offended to find a 12.5% tip added to our bill and promptly removed it. We will think twice before booking here again.
