Gordon Ramsay at 68 Royal Hospital Road

My wonderful husband took me to Hospital Road for lunch during our recent honeymoon, as it has been on my Bucket List to go there for years. I was suitably excitied and a bit nervous in case it didn't live upto expectations, howvere I needn't have worried. Although the restaurant is small, it is beautifully apportioned and very relaxed. The service is fabulous, 2nd only to La Tour d'Argent in Paris in our experience, and the food was sooo delicious. Starter of seafood risotto was as gorgeous as I was hoping it wood be. My main course of pork with apple and black pudding sounds so plain, but in actual fact it all melted in the mouth and was delicious. John's Daurade Royale was also yummy and he thorughly enjoyed it. Then we opted for the very impressive cheese trolley (instead of a dessert) with a glass of port, which all went down really well.

Opting for coffee and petit fours - we were delighted to also be given a complimentary portion of white chocolate enrobed strawberry ice-cream in a space-age pot of CO2 - very theatrical and a great way to end the meal.

All the other tables were taken and the atmosphere was fun and happy, not overpoweringly hushed and reverent as I thought it might be. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough, it was a wonderful treat and one which I will never forget.
