Tamarind

Sadly I have to agree with the negative voices on here - I wish I had checked out the webiste first. I eat at many good local indian restaurants and have travelled to India many times. So I am not a novice when it comes to Indian food. However, quality of spicing, presentation, service were all similar to what I expect at a slightly below average local curry house.

My lamb rogan josh had no texture to the sauce and no individually discernable spices. The lamd was even too fatty for me to eat one of the pieces. At £18 for a smallish bowl (certainly not enough for a hungry adult) this was mind-blowingly poor. Service verged on the rude, although never intentionally.

One final word in its defence is that upon a formal complaint to the manager, the full cost of our meal, including wine was refunded. They also offered a return visit on the house - however I decided that I would rather pay to go somewhere else.

A strange creation, this restaurant, and one that could only survive in Mayfair where there is a very wealthy clientele which does not necessarily know about food.
