Friends kindly offered to take us here as a treat for my fiancee and I prior to our wedding later this month. Each of us had eaten in the bar area on several occasions so were confident that we'd have a good meal with agreeable company in stylish surroundings. Two of those boxes were ticked, the third wasn't.
On arrival we were greeted by an extremely attentive waiter who made us feel very welcome and was able to list and advise us of the day's specials. So far, so good. Starters were fine, nothing special but nothing to complain about.
The evening took a turn for the worse when the mains arrived. Having eaten the exact same Luxe Burger dish on several occasions, I knew it would be good quality. However, it wasn't. The meat seemed off, as if not kept properly. I mentioned this to the staff and the dish was removed and brought back to the kitchen. By this stage, the duty manager came back and told me that the meat was 'strong' and that 'I was the only person to have complained about it ' - two phrases that are hardly conducive to customer satisfaction. I was offered the chance to choose something new (without the aid of a menu) so, in the interests of time, plumped for a pork belly dish. It arrived much later than it ought to have done so I was eating whilst my friends were finished.
The final straw came when we were presented with a bill for the meal had it been satisfactory. After much toing and froing, we managed to negotiate a discount but under duress...I doubt we'll return.

I am no stranger to eating and drinking in Paradise, having been a regular in its various guises. Service was extremely professional, from my being called through when the table was ready earlier than anticipated, through to drinks and dishes being presented in a timely and well presented fashion. The overall quality and experience was very good and we won't hesitate to return.

Eight of us dined in the Bonaparte yesterday as a pre-Christmas treat and were extremely impressed with all aspects of our afternoon. Between us, we've eaten in the restaurant several times each on previous occasions and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, what impressed us no end was how every single member of staff on the premises knew exactly what to do and when meaning that a number of large groups were served with piping hot, delicious food. Sounds simple in theory but so many places get it badly wrong - they know they've got a captive market and serve up poor quality food with surly service to boot. The opposite is the case in the Bonaparte -that's why they're busy year in, year out.

Food 8 | Service 8 | Atmosphere 7 | Value for money 7
I've meant to write a review on the Chamberlayne for some time but, having read the comments below, would only wish to add my agreement. As Kensal Rise has gentrified, it's been great that there are watering hole alternatives to some of the dives in the area. However, this has meant that there is often a high 'too cool for school' factor. The management of this place deserve plaudits for revamping the bar and encouraging new clientele but not alienating locals who just want to have a quiet pint. Something for everyone and, unlike many of its counterparts in the area, very capable staff who are a credit to the bar. Staropramen on draught and one of the best steak and kidney I've had for years...great combination

Food 10 | Service 10 | Atmosphere 10 | Value for money 10
I have lived near The Salusbury for close on 6 years and watched in despair as the establishment has gone from a breath of fresh air in the area to an over-priced and, quite frankly, dirty bar. Last time I visited, no tables seem to have been cleared for quite some time and the staff, as is often the case in the 'cooler' bars of NW6 and environs, seem to feel they are hanging out at a friend's place, rather than serving food and drinks.

Food 5 | Service 1 | Atmosphere 1 | Value for money 1
I visited this restaurant last Wednesday as had read favourable reviews on this site. With this in mind, my friend and I decided to try it out. I'd like to be able to comment on the food and ambience but, alas, I was ejected before ordering. I consider myself a patient man and, having worked in the restaurant trade , am conscious of the teething problems that can befall a new place. I would have had no issue with that.
However, the surly welcome afforded us, our having to beg the manager for a drink whilst we waited for our table and the '15 minute wait' growing closer to 30 minutes with no explanation given all combined to make this one of my least pleasurable evenings of recent months.
To cap it all, we were thrown out of the restaurant as I had the 'audacity' to firmly but politely challenge the level of service.
