Galvin Bistrot de Luxe
warm greeting upon arrival, good service followed by drinks order, fresh bread and a simple meal of cod, chickpea and chorizo for me and TWO roast quails for my companions. one of the quails could have been more cooked, but overall, simple and delicious.

Hare and Tortoise (Bloomsbury)
after raving about the soft shell crab to friends before, this time they sadly disappointed with two overcooked specimens. The sashimi salad is still good along with the sheared tuna. Our main courses of roast duck rice and Penang noodles reconfirmed my view that you should only eat starters here.

Soju
Had a really nice meal at Korean Kitchen, as it happens, on the way to search for a Japanese restaurant on Brewer Street. We stuck to the usual kimchi, spring onion pancake and rice with beef in stone bowl. All of a good standard. We also ordered the chicken soup with ginseng. Was surprised to find a whole baby chicken in the soup, which apparently is the authentic way of cooking. It was delicious. All very pleasing, especially for a freezing night.
