Wong Kei

On the May Bank Holiday I went to the Wong Kei with two friends. From all accounts we were expecting rude waiters, a restaurant bursting at the seams, and an eagerness to get us eating and out as soon as possible. I was struck by the fact that it wasn't full, even on a Saturday night, and that the waiters were polite and friendly. The food was adequate Chinese, but not exceptional in any way, except the portions were big. And it is cheap. As my experience differs from pervious reviews, I wonder if the Wong Kei has changed hands. I won't be eating there again, especially as there are several restaurants in the area with top marks.
