La Petit Auberge (Teddington)

Have to say, was really excited about trying this "little gem" that was so highly rated in the reviews. Unfortunately I was seriously disappointed. The service was, at best, sloth speed and the food, dull.

Four of us dined, two had the steak frites, one lamb and I had a galette. The steak did taste beautiful but was served with a handful of pre-packed salad! The peppercorn sauce was the consistency of wallpaper paste and, well, lets just say, don't think any comis chefs broke into a sweat grinding the little black berries to make it! Again, the lamb was cooked perfectly but was served with rubber (aka "lasagne"). My galette (crepe) had to be returned to the kitchen as the egg inside was raw (-the egg white was not white!).

Did not stick around to taste coffee as figured it was quicker to go home and make our own!

Considering the previous reviews, I imagine we maybe caught them on an off day but certainly won't be returning- shame!
