Fish! Kitchen (Borough Market)

How can you mess up something as simple as grilled fish? The starters were ok, though the Whitebait, was a little too salty and a little overdone.

Main course. Mrs T's grilled bream served on grilled vegetables was one of the most unappetising dishes I've seen in a while that is until the new potatos arrived; grey and rinkled, I think they'd been cooked a while ago and then reheated. we sent them back and the waitress agreed they didn't look nice (they tasted worse). Chips were over done, "more like biscuits" was the comment on our table.

Generally the main course tasted OK but nothing special, and nothing to imply fresh fish. The grilled vegetables; cabbage and large slices of carrot with a fillet of grilled bream perched on top just looked plain ugly.

Mrs T ordered Bread'n'butter pudding. The manager came and removed it after Mrs T ate about 1/3, saying it did not look good enough to serve (it tasted better than it looked) the replacement came, covered in hot custard and still chilled in the centre, we gave up and sent it back saying we didn't need a pudding.

I'm a typical English customer, short of the chef weilding a machine gun on the customers I grin and bear poor food and vow never to return, unfortuanately my memory's terrible as I had a similar experience at this restaurant over a year ago and things are no better. I must never go back. This place sums up all that is bad about British restaurants; mediocre food, over inflated prices and a docile public (me) who put up with it.
