Porters English Restaurant

The worst meal I have had in years! We went to Porters to give a French visitor a taste of London and if that's what they get, no wonder the French diss English food!

The staff were excellent, but the rest of the experience was hideous. The food was greasy and overcooked, my friends fish, rather than having a batter the colour of straw, was more the colour of mud, the mushroom starters were all a shade of mahogany. When we pointed out the poor quality of the food they did very kind offer us free desserts which we took, and I wish I hadn't - the crumble portion, though huge, was inedible. The "crumble" topping tasted of uncooked quaker oats.

I know they say you get what you pay for, but this is not a cheap restaurant and it's an embarrassment to English food, which, when done well, is something we can all be proud off.

The music was some kind of 80's mix, so that coupled with the food made me feel like we were in a episode of 'Life on Mar's in a scene set in a bad Berni Inn.

Two words - stay away :-/
